For the past few months I've been doing a lot of artsy/craftsy work. It began when, after seeing how depressed I'd been feeling, Clockwork showed up at my door with an easil, canvas, and some paint. Since then I've been painting more, drawing more....it's been lovely :)
I ran out of canvas so I used the panels of a broken wood dresser that my dad had lying around. I've fallen in love with wood grain patterns. I also repainted a magazine crate (the colors of which I ADORE) and made a pillow using blue fleece from a sweater and an old canvas bag.

Right now I'm working on an Alice in Wonderland series of paintings. I've only got a few small canvas frames finished, but eventually I'll have most characters complete.
So yeah, I've definitely been on an art kick lately. I plan on opening my own Etsy Shop when I have enough creations.

My summer, in a nutshell
SAM'S BIRTHDAY
From what I can remember, this was the day Clockwork and I had dinner at his uncle's house, and then met up with everyone at Bodega for Sam's birthday. From there we went on to other bars to dance and drink, and although we headed out a bit early (and had to walk for like 15 blocks until we got a taxi) I'm pretty sure Sam enjoyed herself (quite drunkly) . . . .

COSTUME PARTY IN ATHENS
At first we were going to go as Flight of the Conchords (Mike as Jemaine, Clockwork as Bret, and me as Mel), but this proved too difficult, so we went to the Army Surplus store and Mike bought us all outfits. I settled on just an army camo shirt, Clockwork went as Che Guevara, and Mike got a World War II getup. It was a good time.

This also marked the first (sort of second) time that I got to meet some of Clockwork's high school friends. They were all quite friendly and welcoming. I seem to hear horror stories of his ex everywhere we go (this time it was about a discussion he'd had trying to figure out a way to break up with her so that she wouldn't kill him.)
YEAH YEAH YEAHS
Sick show. It was on an outdoor stage, super hot, but beer cooled us off. I really enjoyed their opening act, Grand Ole Party, as well as the main attraction. I loved the combo drummer/singer. This probably rates as one of my top concerts. Karen O is just amazing (and how much do I love it that she's also half Korean?)
BREWHAUS!
Return of the Brewhaus parties!!! A rare night these days when something was actually going down, Clockwork got to experience his very first Brewhaus party. From the way we always talk about them, these parties at the Brewhaus are epic. Unfortunately it isn't last summer anymore, so Clockwork was less impressed due to the buildup.

COMFEST
Columbus's annual Community Festival in Glendale Park, where nudity is encouraged and hippies roam free. The first day of Comfest, Clockwork had to attend a family function, so me, Ruben, and Mike ended up getting drunk and shootin the shit without him. In the spirit of the festival, I went topless (not completely!) and got piss drunk. It was quite a time.

The second day was a little more low key. Less drunk, more exploring. Although, I did get quite drunk afterward at Bodega from my first Irish Car Bomb. On top of the giant mug of beer I'd been glugging all day, it hit me hard. This text from Clockwork pretty much sums up that night:
CLOCKWORK: You just threw up on the side of the road 3 times and I'm sitting in the dark eating Wendy's, and who knows when you'll get this...but I love you :)
He still loves me even when I'm pukey. That's how I know our relationship works :D
MANDY & MIKE'S GOING AWAY PARTY/RED, WHITE, & BREW
Mike was finally gearing up to leave for the Navy, and Mandy was moving to Delaware to be with Joe, so we threw them a little goodbye soiree on July 4th.

The party was a blast, despite certain drama (Sean and Melissa got into a fight which caused Sean to rip his shirt off, hulk style, and left Mona, the mannequin, in pieces on the floor...I also had my share of weirdness because Jailbait was there, and he was quite snarky to me and my boyfriend.) Of course there was a Dashboard Confessional sing along, pizza, beer pong, Sunny D shots all around, stink bombs being set off, sparklers, dancing and many more shenanigans that make a Brewhaus party what it is. Oh, and fireworks :)
THE LATEST...
So Mike left for the Navy (we had a goodbye dinner for him at Buca De Beppo, and a final drink at Bodega. It was all quite sad.) and now I'm in the process of moving my stuff from my apartment to my dad's because my lease is up at the end of the month. Clockwork goes to school soon so he will be moving in with his uncle, and we'll be about an hour apart :( It's not going to be fun getting used to seeing him once a week when I saw him just about everyday, but we'll manage it.
And now I am quite tired from all this postyness. I realize that the end of my last entry was pretty ominous, considering that I didn't return for about 4 months, but I'll try to make the next one a bit quicker :)
